8 Tarn end cottages

Talkin Tarn, Cumbria

Overview

With uninterrupted views over Talkin Tarn this luxury cottage provides an ideal base to enjoy a romantic break at any time of year.  There is a number of walks from the door around the tarn and to Castle Carrock Fell.

Nestled in an area of natural beauty, with uninterrupted views over the tarn, the 12 cottages have been developed from the former Tarn End Hotel to provide luxurious accommodation in a tranquil setting.

Talkin Tarn nestles 9 miles East of Carlisle and 2 miles south of Brampton where there are shops, bars and restaurants.  The footpath from your door leads to the village of Talkin, relax with a local ale and meal in the village inn.  Wander down to The Boathouse Cafe and Gift Shop, enjoy a coffee and lunch al fresco overlooking the tarn, or hire a rowing boat, try your hand at stand up paddle boarding, kayaking or archery.  If you prefer a more laid back activity a stroll around the 1.3 mile tarn takes you through the mature woodland, you can fish to your hearts content (subject to licence) from the shores of the tarn or enjoy a round of golf, the course literally overlooks the cottages.  Further afield there are numerous historical sites within a short drive including Lanercost Priory and Tea Rooms, Hadrian’s Wall and Carlisle Castle.  Situated a short drive from the A69 both Carlisle and Newcastle are easily accessible and the shores of Lake Ullswater are just over an hours drive away.

Occupying a prime position within the development, 8 Tarn End Cottage has uninterrupted views over the landscaped garden to the tarn and Carrock Fells beyond.  As you walk through the door into the open plan living area you are drawn to the wall of windows which perfectly frame the view, the comfy sofa is positioned to admire the tarn and snuggle in front of the electric fire with flame effect and Smart TV.  The kitchen is fully equipped with everything needed to prepare a scrumptious meal including electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave and Nespresso coffee machine (please bring your own pods).

The romantic first floor bedroom has a wall of windows to take in the stunning view, snuggle in the bed and watch the stars twinkling above the water below.  Soak away the stresses of the day in the brass bath whilst enjoying a glass of bubbly.  There is an en-suite shower room with luxury shower.

All gas, electric, bed linen and towels included.  There is free off street parking in the car park opposite.  Shared use of the bike store.  A private patio area has table and chairs to take in the spectacular view and shared use of the landscaped gardens with lights guiding you to the tarn and jetty.

PLEASE NOTE:  There is ongoing building work on the other side of the property and workmen will be on site Monday to Friday.  The cottage has been priced to take the inconvenience and noise into consideration and no compensation will be offered due to this.
